Knob & Tube Remediation
The truth of the matter is, we encounter wiring systems in our clients’ homes that are over 100 years old! And we know replacing knob and tube in your home isn’t a flashy and Instagram post worthy, but we truly know the importance of remediating it! Back in the time when these older homes were built, you may have had only a few things plugged into outlets. Unfortunately, this is not the case in the 20th century. Knob and tube and old BX wiring doesn’t have a grounding conductor.
The national electrical code requires your home to have outlets with only 2 prongs. In our experience we find that this causes homeowners to change their own receptacle to 3 prong outlets without changing the existing cable. This can be very dangerous and can cause an electrical hazard. This is why we need to consult a professional to help keep your home as safe as possible. We have a range of experience installing standby and portable generators.
